POLICE have been called in after a fire has been started deliberately in a York suburb.

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service say they were called to Thanet Road in Acomb at 3.48pm on Wednesday (June 11) after reports of a fire.

A service spokesman said: "Acrew from York responded to reports of a tree on fire, believed to have been set alight by youths.

"Police were informed of the incident.

"The fire was out on arrival, crews inspected only with a thermal imaging camera."
