Chief Minister M.K. Stalin reached Salem district on a two-day visit on Wednesday evening. The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) functionaries and the public gave a grand welcome to the Chief Minister, who participated in an 11-km roadshow from Perumpallam to Mettur.
After completing the roadshow in Erode district, the Chief Minister reached Perumpallam, the Salem district border near Mettur, around 7.30 p.m. DMK functionaries led by Tourism Minister R. Rajendran, welcomed the Chief Minister.
From Perumpallam, the Chief Minister walked and met the people on both sides of the road and took selfies with the youth and the public. He also interacted with conservancy workers in the middle of the roadshow, and the workers took photos with the Chief Minister. Later the Chief Minister met DMK functionaries at a marriage hall in Navapatti and later he stayed in Mettur.
On Thursday, the Chief Minister will release water from the Mettur Dam for delta irrigation around 9.30 a.m.
Later, at a function in Salem, he will lay the foundation stone for 509 new scheme works worth ₹1,244.28 crore and will inaugurate 225 completed works worth ₹200.26 crore. He will distribute assistance to the tune of ₹204.64 crore to 1.01 lakh beneficiaries. In the evening, the Chief Minister will leave for Chennai from Salem airport.
