Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs), who have been on an agitation since February 10 demanding better wages and living conditions, are set to campaign against the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) government in the Nilambur Assembly byelection.
From Thursday, ASHAs will campaign with a clear message: no vote for those who insulted their strike. They will take out a march from Chandakkunnu bus stand in Nilambur on Thursday morning and hold a public meeting near the old bus stand.
Kerala ASHA Health Workers Association State vice-president S. Mini will inaugurate the public meeting. They will reach out to households in Nilambur with the message against the government and the LDF.
A protest march taken out by Association general secretary M.A. Bindu from Kasaragod reached Kollam on its 38th day on Wednesday. The march was given receptions at more than 100 centres across the State. The ASHAs had slept on the streets of Nilambur as part of their protest march.
The march is scheduled to reach Secretariat in the State capital on its 46th day after touring Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram districts.
