The Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh on Friday suspended the superintendent of police of Hathras Vikrant Veer, and the deputy SP and an inspector in the alleged gangrape-cum-murder case. Ironically, the action came following a forensic report which suggested that there was no sign of rape of the Dalit girl as no trace of sperm could be found in the private parts of victim.
The state government action came after a submission of preliminary report of the Special Investigation Team. For the third day in a row the police is not allowing anyone to enter the village of victim girl in Hathras. Even the milk van was not allowed entry. Some media persons did try to enter the village but they failed.
According to reports the family members have charged that the district magistrate of Hathras has ordered the seizure of all the mobile phones so that they could not talk to anyone. If on Thursday Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi were prevented from reaching Hathras on Friday Trinamool Congress MP, Dereck O’ Brien was stopped from entering the village which has virtually been converted into a fortress.
Curiously, the SIT report has called for the Narco test not only of the accused but also the family memers of the victim. Both the parties have been demanding the CBI probe into the incident as more than a fortnight after the incident it could not be known as to how was the girl killed. In the meantime murmuring has started within the ruling BJP over the handling of the whole incident.
Meanwhile, Priyanka Gandhi on Friday reiterated that she would not sit idle till her sister get justice. The BSP leader and former chief minister Mayawati has also criticised the way whole incident has been handled by the UP government. The forensic report has also shocked people across the country as question has started rising as to whom does the UP government want to protect.
