The forensic report of AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) has ruled out that actor Sushant Singh Rajput was murdered as claimed by the leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party and Janata Dal United as well as some television channels. By stating that there was no injury on the body other than of hanging and there was no mark of scuffle/ struggle on the body and the cloth of the deceased the report rendered all the loud-mouthed TV anchors and NDA leaders speechless.
As the report has come just on the eve of Bihar Assembly poll it has deprived the NDA of the opportunity of making the Sushant case an election issue. Soon after the death of Sushant on June 14 last the BJP and JDU leaders openly claimed that it was not a suicide but a murder. The then director general of police, Bihar, Gupteshwar Pandey, became active on television channels.
He had then accused the Maharashtra Police of giving a different colour to the case. Pandey, who suddenly emerged as a prominent face on some TV channels, resigned from his post on September 22 and straightaway plunged into politics. Chief minister Nitish Kumar ushered him into the ruling Janata Dal United on September 26 and is most likely to be made a party candidate.
As Sushant was originally from Bihar and cousin of the BJP legislator Neeraj Kumar Bablu, the saffron brigade and its main ally, went all out to politicise the issue even though no political party in the state ever opposed an independent inquiry into the death. Three and a half months later Sushant death case has acquired a totally new dimension with some noted film personalities charged with taking drugs.
Earlier the country witnessed a spat between film actress Kangana Ranaut and Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut. In the poll-bound Bihar the news has come on the day when NDA was struggling for seat sharing arrangements and one of its constituents, the LJP, was on the way out. The report was made public by Dr Sudhir Gupta, chairman of the AIIMS Forensic Board.
