After deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi, and two senior leaders Syed Shahnawaz Husain and Rajiv Pratap Rudy, the Bihar election in-charge of the BJP, Devendra Fadnavis, has tested Corona positive. Reports said that several other party leaders and functionaries are showing signs of COVID-19.
Ironically, the pandemic has started spreading fast just a couple of days after the saffron party leaders started claiming in election rallies that the state government had successfully fought Corona. The spread of the pandemic has affected the election campaign of the party in Bihar.
Meanwhile, the Chattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel and Shiv Sena mouthpiece, Saamna have criticised the BJP’s election promises that the party would provide free Corona vaccine to the people of Bihar. “Bihar is part of the country. The state has consistently demanded special status. But even though Nitish Kumar was the chief minister, the state remained backward. There is no doubt that Bihar should get the vaccine but other states are not in Pakistan. The issue of Covid-19 vaccine should not be included in Bihar’s election manifesto,” the editorial said.
Baghel asked as to how the BJP would provide free Corona vaccine when it has not yet been developed in the world. And even if it has been discovered why only people of Bihar would get free vaccine? If the election is held in Bengal or Gujarat today would they make the similar promise there.
