Three weeks after the death of Union Consumers Affairs minister and LJP chief Ram Vilas Paswan the leader of Hindustani Awam Morcha and former chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi on Monday charged that the news of his demise was suppressed for two days and blamed his son Chirag Paswan for it.
Manjhi’s party has even written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in this regard. Curiously, Manjhi’s statement came just on the eve of the second phase of election for 94 Assembly seats on Nov 3.
Some of these seats going to polls are in Hajipur, the Lok Sabha constituency, which Ram Vilas Paswan used to represent. Manjhi told the media persons that Paswan was a great leader and Union minister and daily health bulletin should have been released. However, Chirag hit back on Manjhi and said that he never came to meet his ailing father though he had a telephonic conversativon with the latter. Chirag accused Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar of playing dirty game after the death of his father, whom he never rang even to inquire about health.
He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would be the best person to answer the question raised by Manjhi. HAM leader’s allegation on Chirag reminded the people of what had happened two days before the death of senior RJD leader Raghuvansh Prasad Singh on Sep 13. While he was in his death bed a brief letter was circulated in the media stating that he had resigned from the RJD.
However, the closest aide of Raghuvansh denied that he had ever written such a letter as he was on ventilator. Senior journalist Dinesh Kumar Singh then directly accused Nitish Kumar of playing dirty game at the time of Raghuvansh’s death.
