To allay the fear of the common masses, three former US Presidents—Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama–have volunteered themselves to take the Corona Virus vaccine publicly. At the same time Queen Elizabeth of the UK and her husband Prince Philip will be the first individuals in the country to take the vaccine.
Though Obama, 60, who has served as the 44th president of the United States, is not suffering from any health problem, he sees it necessary to take the vaccine. He said: “I may end up taking it on TV or having it filmed, just so that people know that I trust this science, and what I don’t trust is getting Covid.”
With the United States being one of the most affected countries of the world as far as COVID-19 is concerned, and almost 2,82,000 people being the casualty of the disease, a feasible vaccine for the pandemic is necessary to reign it at the earliest.
The vaccines have been developed by the biopharmaceutical companies Pfizer and BioNtech jointly.
Britain on Wednesday last also gave the approval to the two companies to start the immunization process.
Though a vaccine is one of the most efficient way to counter the proliferation of the number of cases of a disease as was seen in the case of Polio virus, several Americans are still sceptical about the newly developed vaccine.
As a matter of fact, according to surveys conducted recently, around 42 per cent of the residents of the country would think twice before taking the vaccine even though it was “available right now at no cost”.
Anyway, the three Presidents by volunteering to take the Corona vaccine publicly have sent a strong signal about the efficacy and usefulness of the vaccine being developed by the two companies and is expected to go a long way in encouraging an average American to be vaccinated.
According to Daily Mail, Queen Elizabeth, 94 and her husband would be the first to get vaccinated because of old age but would not get preferential treatment. Meanwhile, Tedros Adhanom, the Director of the World Health Organization too has offered to take the vaccine on camera if the situation demands so.
