Noted film actor Mithun Chakraborty may attend Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Brigade Parade Ground rally of the Bharatiya Janata Party on March 7.
This information was given to the media on Saturday by the party’s West Bengal in-charge Kailash Vijayvargiya, who had a telephonic talk with the seasoned Bollywood personality.
This development took place on the day former Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament of Trinamool Congress, Dinesh Trivedi joined the BJP at the party’s headquarters in New Delhi. Those present on the occasion included BJP national president J P Nadda and railway minister Piyush Goyal.
It needs to be mentioned that Trivedi, a former railway minister himself, had resigned from the Trinamool Congress in a dramatic manner, while delivering a speech in Rajya Sabha last month.
On Saturday, while joining the BJP, Trivedi, who is originally from Gujarat, said that it was a ‘golden moment’ for him.
On the other hand, the BJP, which needs a chief ministerial face to counter Mamata Banerjee, is trying hard to rope in some prominent personalities ahead of the election.
Mithun’s proximity with the Sangh Parivar grew in the recent weeks. The RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat met him at his residence in Mumbai sometimes back. Then Mithun paid a visit to the RSS headquarters in Nagpur.
Earlier, according to media reports, the BJP tried to woo former Indian cricket captain and President of the BCCI, Saurav Ganguly, into the party. But he reportedly showed no interest in politics.
Meanwhile, chief minister Mamata Banerjee said that the BJP is not going to win the West Bengal election even if the polls are held in 294 phases and all the forces at its disposal from Kashmir to Kanniyakumari are pressed into the service.
