A special CBI court on Tuesday convicted Rashtriya Janata Dal chief and former chief minister of Bihar Lalu Prasad Yadav in Ranchi’s Doranda treasury case. The quantum of punishment will be pronounced on February 18. The 139.5 crore fraudulent withdrawal case is part of the 950 crore fodder scam. Lalu Yadav was already convicted in four cases related to the scam.
Earlier, he was convicted in Chaibasa treasury case of Rs.37 crore on September, 30, 2013, Deoghar treasury case of 89.27 crore on December 23, 2017, Chaibasa Treasury case of of 33.13 crore on January 24, 2018 and Dumka treasury case of 3.76 crore on March 19, 2018.
The RJD supremo has challenged the previous four convictions in Jharkhand High Court and is currently out on bail. Lalu yadav’s legal team is hoping that he gets less than three years of punishment so that bail can be secured from the Special CBI court itself.
