The Bihar NDA government is on the verge of collapse as Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has reportedly decided to switch over to the RJD led Grand Alliance. The Bihar CM is scheduled to meet Governor Phagu Chauhan today evening where he is expected to submit his resignation.
Earlier, opposition front constituents Rashtriya Janata Dal, Congress and Left parties held meetings to deliberate on the emerging political situation of the state. Speaking to media persons, RJD leader Shivanand Tiwari said that his party has no option other than to support Nitish Kumar if such a situation arises.
On the other hand, Congress leader Madan Mohan Jha said, “We have given our consent to the party high command to back anti- BJP front in Bihar after discussion with 19 MLA in the presence of Bhakta Charan Das, the party state in charge.”
Almost 5 years earlier, on 27 July 2017, Nitish Kumar switched over to NDA two years after winning the 2015 election in Alliance with RJD. But Nitish kumar has been uncomfortable with BJP since the 2020 assembly election after his party could win only 43 seats. Chirag Paswan led Lok Janshakti Party played spoiler as it put up candidates against JDU quota seats which damaged the prospect of many of its candidates. JDU believes that Chirag was doing this on the behest of BJP.
