As a new wave of corona virus is sweeping across Europe and the United States, French President Emmanuel Macron, 42, is the latest among the VVIPs to be affected by this disease. He was tested positive on Thursday morning after showing symptoms of COVID-19 in the night.
His wife, Brigitte who is 25 years elder to him, too underwent the test but was found negative.
Macron went on self-isolation for seven days, but worked throughout Thursday from his palace. He even took part in an online international conference on aid.
However, he has cancelled his upcoming visit to trouble-torn Lebanon.
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, Portuguese PM Antonio Costa and Belgian PM Alexander De Croo too went on quarantine as they have met Macron in the last one week. French Prime Minister Jean Castex and the President of the European Council Charles Michel have also gone on self-isolation as they have met him in the last few days. On the other hand, European countries too are taking strict measures to check the movement of people ahead of Christmas. The United Kingdom has also imposed a lockdown as Prime Minister Boris Johnson had appealed to the country men and women to keep the Christmas celebrations short.
Across the Atlantic, the United States witnessed over 3,600 deaths and 2.47 lakh cases of corona virus on Wednesday.
It needs to be mentioned that UK PM Boris Johnson and US President Donald Trump had also suffered from this pandemic.
