The brother of Union tourism minister Prahlad Singh Patel and himself a BJP MLA, Jalam Singh Patel, has written a letter to the Madhya Pradesh chief minister, Shivraj Singh Chauhan seeking strict action against all those involved in the manufacture, sale and distribution of spurious Remdesivir.
According to the letter he was himself a victim of this fake injection and one of his relatives, Dinesh Patel, 42, even died after taking it. The letter said that after campaigning in the recent Damoh Assembly by-poll he was tested corona positive and had to undergo treatment in a Jabalpur hospital.
He further said that six out of 12 injections administered to him were fake and that many people in Madhya Pradesh had lost their lives due to it. He alleged that some officials and political figures too are involved in this whole racket. The injection was manufactured in neighbouring Gujarat.
After his letter to the chief minister, the police arrested a leader of Vishwa Hindu Parishad Sarabjit Singh Mokha, who is also the director of the hospital, and several others. NSA was slapped on Mokha.
While talking to the NDTV, Jalam Patel, himself a former minister, expressed surprise as to why instead of one year, only three months NSA was slapped against him.
He demanded strictest possible action against him and all others as they have taken lives of thousands of people.
The health education minister of the state Vishwas Sarang told the channel that nobody would be spared.
The report also said that so far eight patients have lost their lives in Indore after fake Remdesivir was administered to them.
It needs to be mentioned that a huge racket of spurious Remdesivir is going on in Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. It is somewhat embarrassing for the ruling BJP because some of those involved in it are close to the party.
