The first day of the Monsoon Session of Parliament started on Sep 14, on a surprised note not just because it has no Question Hour but also because of the fact that one of the MPs, and that too of BJP’s ally Rashtriya Loktantrick Party, tested positive in the mandatory testing in Delhi while he was declared negative in Jaipur.
In all 25 MPs tested positive on the first day of the session and were thus asked to quarantine themselves. One of them was RLP’s Hanuman Beniwal who returned to Jaipur and got tested again. There he was declared negative. This ‘discrepancy’ has raised a serious question: Is it that many of those declared negative in Delhi today may actually be Corona positive and thus may affect others? Meanwhile, opposition MPs are on warpath as the government refused to accept the demand of Question Hour.
On the first day of the delayed session that was attended by 359 members, nearly 200 were present in the Lok Sabha chamber and a little over 30 were seated in the visitors’ gallery located above the main chamber. Plastic shields were installed in front of the members’ benches in order to ensure distance, Hindustan Times reported.
Among the eight Bills introduced in the first day of the Monsoon Session, The National Commission of Homeopathy Bill, 2020 and The National Commission of Indian System of Medicine Bill, 2020 were passed in Lower House, since these Bills were already attested by the Rajya Sabha in March this year.
