While Maharashtra chief minister and Shiv Sena supremo Uddhav Thackeray has said that he would not allow film industry of Mumbai to be forcibly relocated to Uttar Pradesh his cousin’s outfit the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena has, without taking the name of anyone, called the UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath a ‘thug’ (cheat) who has come to Mumbai to take away Bollywood.
The MNS of Raj Thackeray on Wednesday put up the posters outside the five-star hotel where Yogi is staying and warned him of the consequences of his step. The posters said that under no circumstances the industry set up by Dadasaheb Phalke would be allowed to be snatched from Mumbai. The posters also alleged that after having failed to solve the problem of unemployment in his home state the UP chief minister has taken the route of Mumbai.
Yogi met cine-star Akshay Kumar as a part of his exercise to woo actors and actresses to the planned film city in Noida in UP.
On the other hand, Uddhav warned that his government would not let the film industry to be moved out of the western metropolis. He dared Yogi to take the manufacturing sector from Mumbai.
Another Shiv Sena leader and editor of Saamna, Sanjay Raut, asked as to how many films are being shooted in the existing Film City built in Noida sometimes back. In what condition is it now? “We have no objection but one should know as to what is happening in the already existing film city in UP,” Raut questioned.
Both the Senas suspect the manner in which Yogi is planning to take away the film industry from Mumbai.
The spokesman of Maharashtra unit of the Congress Sachin Sawant also objected to the way the Yogi government is planning to shift the industry under coercion to UP.
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh’s minority welfare minister, Mohsin Raza, questioned as to why the Shiv Sena is so upset over the Yogi government’s effort to build film industry in the state.
Yogi on Wednesday also visited the Bombay Stock Exchange.
