The daughter of noted Socialist fighter and the champion of anti-Congressism in yesteryears, Sharad Yadav, on Wednesday joined the Indian National Congress at the party’s headquarters in Delhi.
Subhashini Raj Rao told the mediapersons that her father is not keeping up a good health but he wishes big success to Grand Alliance. Sharad Yadav floated Loktantrik Janata Dal after he was eased out of the presidentship of Janata Dal United by Nitish Kumar.
Subhashini is likely to be made the Congress candidate from Bihariganj Assembly constituency in Madhepura district. Madhepura has been represented several times in the Lok Sabha by her father Sharad Yadav. Sharad, who is originally from Madhya Pradesh, entered electoral politics as a young leader of JP Movement way back in 1974.
He was the united opposition candidate from Jabalpur Lok Sabha seat. His victory gave a big boost to the opposition parties in pre-Emergency days. Besides Subhashini, the General Secretary of the LJP Kali Prasad Pandey also joined the Congress party.
The joining of Congress by Subhashini is likely to help the Grand Alliance in Kosi belt where Pappu Yadav factor is coming in the way.
