In a brief period of two months BJP lost another battle in Rajasthan. On Friday the motion of confidence moved by the Congress government was passed by voice votes. The big Congress win was an established fact following the return of Sachin Pilot along with 18 legislators to the Congress fold.
Sachin, who revolted last month came out strongly in support of the Ashok Gehlot government. Chief minister Ashok Gehlot termed Friday’s victory as a the defeat of BJP’s conspiracy. Earlier, the BJP had to bite the dust during the Rajya Sabha election held in June when the Congress managed to win two and the saffron party only one seat. Then too all out efforts were made to woo some rebel Congress votes towards the BJP side.
The defeat of BJP has fully exposed the weakness within the saffron camp in Rajasthan as the former chief minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia was never inclined to back any such move to install Sachin Pilot as the chief minister with the help of BJP. This was the turning point of the whole political scenario in the state.
After Friday’s victory Gehlot as emerged as the big winner awhile Sachin and BJP central leaders have ended up with eggs over their faces. The BJP camp is heading for infighting as Vasundhara commands good support in the legislative party.
