In a brazen incident the wife and son of the acting Managing Director-cum-Spokesman of Indian Railways R D Vajpayee were shot dead in Lucknow at around 3:00 PM on Saturday while he was himself addressing a Press conference in New Delhi. He immediately left for Lucknow. His daughter has been rushed to the hospital and is said to be in coma. It is not clear whether she too was shot or not.
According to police prima facie it appears to be just a case of double murder as there is no sign of robbery or loot. Incidentally, the killing took place just 200 metres from Raj Bhawan.
Railway minister Piyush Goyal had telephonic talks with UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath and state director general of police. The shocking double murder in the broad-daylight in the high security area of Lucknow has once again exposed the law and order situation in the state. Investigation is going on and the police is not sharing much information with the media.
